Covid-19 Recovery Grants now open

Georges River Council has launched 4 new grants to support businesses, artists and not-for-profits affected by Covid-19. 

The Covid-19 Recovery Grants program is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and aims to achieve the following;

  • Provide a structured and strategic program through which funding can be allocated to meet identified community needs caused by the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • Support local businesses to revitalize and diversify;
  • Support and facilitate the development of a more liveable community and enrich community social capital through targeted and timely support to community organisations;

Outdoor Dining Opportunities for Local Cafes & Restaurants

As part of Georges River Council’s Economic and Social Recovery Plan, the temporary revision of trading regulations has been endorsed to help fast track the economic recovery of businesses in area. This initiative is not only aimed at increasing the dining capacity of local restaurants and cafes but also about reinvigorating local centres in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions.
Business use of the public area is a valuable use of public space it can improve the look of our streets and adds life and creates vibrancy to our centres. Outdoor dining, shopfront display and A Frame applications are available to all businesses in the Georges River Local Government Area. Each application received will be reviewed individually for suitability in the proposed public domain area.The applicant should read and understand the Use of Public Land Policy and Guidelines as part of the application process.

Stay COVID safe

Make your business COVID Safe in 3 easy Steps

Georges River council, with the help of the state government is looking to minimise the predicted second wave of COVID-19. In order to do this, Council and the state government needs the help of businesses within our community to become COVID safe.

To do this, NSW businesses are required to:

  • Complete a COVID-19 Safety Plan
  • Register as a COVID Safe business (with the NSW Government)
  • Show that they are COVID Safe (download/display COVID Safe posters, consider methods for contact tracing, share with staff etc)

Please complete he COVID-19 Safety Plan and register as a COVID safe business by clinking on the link  COVID SAFE BUSINESS  or alternatively please visit https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/covid-safe-businesses .  Note that COVID-19 Safety Plans have been designed by industry type that can also be accessed by the COVID Safe business website

Apply for a small business COVID-19 recovery grant

July 9, 2020

Service NSW has grants available  to small businesses who have been negatively affected by COVID-19.

If your small business or not-for-profit organisation has experienced a decline in turnover as a result of COVID-19, you may be eligible for a small business recovery grant of between $500 and $3000.

This grant helps small businesses meet the costs of safely reopening or up-scaling operations.
